<3 texas

it was flooding at the airport in Texas
a group of german students
smoked cigarettes outside
getting their sweatpants and
tennis shoes rained on.

walk lifting your heavy wet sleeves

I could stay in this red brasserie
waiting for my plane in the Dallas rain
a ten-gallon hat teenager
lifts up his shirt to run his hands
over his tan abs

if Texas was a drug it would be sparkly and burdensome
like a charcoal cider six pack recommended by K,
which I can find in LA.
the vibe changes (the only thing that you can count on)
gone like chips and salsa
or the first half of a movie

two travel girls throw down their backpacks,
their camelbacks,
they dont have time quite like mine
to pick up a heavy glass of water

travel voucher offer
two paths on a yellow road
should I stay or should I go?

the clock ticking,
a delayed plane,
a ponytail girl traveling
with an aunt in window seat
gives a wave to a make-believe crowd
outside the window
goodbye to Texas
and everyone one here
I would have loved
