18th century feeling

my favorite color is
the difference between green and orange

Traditional chartreuse is yellow
gently laced with limeish green
then comes dusty turmeric ochre
to turn the latter granny smith

I used to hold my forearm up to my brother's
see how green I am and you are pink?
now I'm turning red
in the 21st century ozone hole I live in

Someone told me brown was next
I thought so too but
prophecies don't belong to me
just settle in the dust around us

it's like trying to own a smell
