the come down

The people that stay that say they’re concerned
about homelessness homelessness
we watch her
feel hers
in her apartment

the colonial
party
we stay honest
it's a rush
it was

her car with the hatchet
her son her son’s dis ability
his service

stuck in a double-parked ditch
at mass ditched
the service
for the chaos
of safety
a youth den a lock-in
3 am to Walmart

the pale concrete drive that cut a pond

I was that bag
the cat’s bed
that walk
shook the drive
the horse fence
horse head letter opener

that’s our
future blue
trailer
stunning in the names
that keep narrowing
like the day sticks
to the daughter
you can beat it
just like that

I grabbed your hand
like I was going to set it down

come down to me
what was I thinking earlier
about those flashes
on the darker plastics
my seeing things
just got into it
the ever funeral
pressed upon
ran up the bill
shorthanded

a drink called sermon
she rolled it
kept living where
she wasn't
and didn't have to feed
the cat anymore
everybody’s calling everything juice

all friends from the past lightly
curl around the town this
comes down to this
